Diabetes Self-Management Class

Take charge of your health! If you or someone you know has diabetes, join our six-week workshop, Diabetes Self-Management (DSM). You’ll get the support you need, find practical ways to deal with pain and fatigue, sugar control, discover better nutrition and exercise choices, understand new treatment choices, and learn better ways to talk with your doctor and family about your health.

We can help you live a healthier life, and maybe even reduce cost to the healthcare system, through the six-week Diabetes Self-Management workshop series. For people with diabetes, DSM has been shown to improve health, function, and communication with their doctors, while reducing stress and helping manage symptoms like fatigue, pain, and depression.

Learn from trained leaders who understand firsthand what you are experiencing. Set your own weekly goals and make a step-by-step plan to improve your health – and your life!

The Geauga Department on Aging offers this course several times a year. Be sure to check your monthly “Senior News” for class openings. GDA employees have been trained to teach this course. When offered, this class is free for all registered seniors.
