ATTENTION RUSSELL TOWNSHIP SENIORS
The Russell Township Trustees and Road Department are joining forces with the
Geauga County Department on Aging for the 2026 Russell Township Senior Trash Pick-Up Days on Sept 9, 10 and 11
Please have items outside home or garage Tuesday, September 8 the evening before the pick-up.

First, register and complete the trash pick-up intake with the Geauga County Department on Aging at 440-279-2130 by September 1 or earlier.
Please note, to receive trash pick-up assistance, you must be 60 years of age or older, live in Russell Township and be registered with the Department on Aging for 2026.
What Russell will take: Metal items, appliances, grills without fuel tanks, furniture, carpet cut & bundled, toys, lamps, televisions, and electronic equipment will be accepted. Construction wood, drywall, pipe or other large items must be reduced to 6’ or less lengths. Windows, glass, & mirrors must be duct taped. All smaller materials should be consolidated in strong boxes and items should be kept dry (tarped). Please 10 household items per home. Please note the following guidelines: To prevent possible bed bug transferal (or other pest), all mattresses, couches and upholstered furniture MUST be wrapped in plastic and taped securely or they will not be taken.
What Russell won’t take: Liquids, paints, antifreeze, motor oil, appliances with Freon, hazardous materials, batteries, propane or gas tanks, plastic-coated wire, construction/remodeling debris, ashes, rocks, yard waste, tree trunks, tires, medical waste, food waste, or household garbage. Residents are reminded that newspapers, magazines and cardboard are recyclable. Separate them out for recycling at a later date. Residents are also asked not to put out items that can easily be disposed of in the resident’s weekly curbside pickup. No tires will be picked up as Russell has an annual tire drop-off event.
The Russell Township Road Crew and the Department on Aging cannot enter homes. All refuse items must be outside by garages, out buildings or in the driveway. Please DO NOT leave items by curbside.
